The World Congress in Paris 2023 set a new benchmark for excellence, and the journey continues with the 41st European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy (ESRA) Annual Congress in Prague. Renowned as the “mother of all cities,” “Golden City,” and the “city of 100 towers,” Prague provides a vibrant cultural backdrop enriched by historical figures like Smetana, Dvořák, Janáček, and Mozart, and literary icons such as Franz Kafka, Jaroslav Hašek, and Egon Erwin Kisch.

The city’s 900 years of architectural splendor, renowned beer breweries, and charming coffee houses will enhance the congress experience. The Congress Scientific and Local Organizing Committees, supported by an extensive International Experts Group, have curated a comprehensive and high-quality scientific program for both young and seasoned delegates. More than 100 respected international experts and key opinion leaders, alongside rising stars, will form the faculty team. The event is expected to attract thousands of participants from over 50 countries, providing a prime opportunity in 2024 for networking, sharing, and discussing the latest updates, advancements, and innovations in regional anaesthesia, perioperative care, point-of-care ultrasound (PocUS), and acute postoperative and chronic pain management. Recognized as one of the most influential platforms in anaesthesia and pain medicine, the ESRA Annual Congress is highly rated by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education for its high scientific standards. The event will emphasize interactivity, collaboration, and the promotion of science and networking through state-of-the-art presentations, new insights into basic science, clinical research, and therapeutic interventions. The meeting format will foster active interaction between faculty and delegates, incorporating input, commitment, and proactive engagement.

The scientific program will include multiple learning opportunities for residents, trainees, and fellows, free papers and e-poster sessions with numerous prizes in regional anaesthesia and chronic pain, a video contest, and a large exhibition area for showcasing the latest industry innovations. Written and oral exams for the EDRA and EDPM ESRA diplomas will be offered alongside a variety of social activities and unique networking events, such as the Congress Opening Ceremony & Welcome Session, Networking Reception, Networking on The Run, Trainees & Diplomates Reception, Annual Networking Dinner & Celebration, and the Farewell Reception. Additional sessions will feature networking sessions and symposia, plenary experts’ panel discussions, instructional refresher course lectures, PRO-CON debates, “Ask the Expert” interactive sessions, second opinion discussion sessions, tips & tricks sessions, problem-based learning discussions (PBLD), lunch sessions, video and e-poster contests, RAPM sessions, complex case discussions, audience-submitted content/Q&A, hands-on clinical and cadaver workshops, trainees sessions, live demonstrations on models, and 360 open space simulation courses. With the support, enthusiasm, and participation of all attendees, the congress is set to inspire and create another memorable experience in Prague, the “Golden City,” in September 2024.
